Watershed
Atlas
Mystery #1
This
old house was once a beautiful home for a family. That was when this valley
was filled with people who farmed. They grew cotton, soybeans, and other
crops. But now the farmers are gone, and the houses and the land are left
to nature. Our school has 150 students K-12, but our district is about
40 miles by 30 miles. Families still grow gardens to have vegetables for
their own use. And some of the people here work in the log woods. Most
of the few people that continue to live in this valley must travel up
to 50 miles to work in the city.
A
map of our watershed shows the elevation of the mountains of our valley.
It crosses three counties in our state.Eventually
this water will drain into the Mississippi River.
