This
bird was once considered endangered but has been recently been removed
from the endangered list in our watershed area. We have seen a marked
increase in our state and have a nearby town with over 5 breeding pairs.

The Ridley Sea Turtle is an endangered animal in our watershed area. Ê
Ê Ê

Both of these whales were greatly sought out during the earliest of whaling
days in our watershed area. One was the "right" one to kill and the
other was the sperm whale. The sperm whale was used for it's blubber to
make oil for lamps. It also had ambergris which was used to make the smell
of perfume last longer.
