Charles Fox
Assistant Administrator for Water J. Charles Fox was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Assistant Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPS) on October 21, 1998. As Assistant Administrator for Water, Mr. Fox is responsible for the national water quality management program, including implementation of the President’s Clean Water Action Plan and the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments. Prior to serving as Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water, Mr. Fox served as the Associate Administrator for EPA’s Office of Reinvention where he directed the Common Sense Initiative, Project XL, and other regulatory Reinvention efforts. Mr. Fox has served
as the Assistant Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of the Maryland
Department of the Environment (MDE). Prior to joining the MDE,
he served as the Chief of Staff to EPA’s Office of Water and as a Special
Assistant to the EPA Administrator. Mr. Fox has held positions
with a number of non-profit environmental organizations including American
Rivers, Friends of the Earth, and the Environmental Policy Institute.
Mr. Fox holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Geography from the
University of Wisconsin in Madison. He and his wife live in Annapolis,
Maryland. |
