River
Song Contest
Larry
Long, "a true American troubador," has generously donated one of his
favorite river ballads, "Blue Highway*," to the Rivers of
Life Mississippi Adventure. Now, your students can join Larry in song.
Here's how the
contest works:
- Download the song, "Blue
Highway*." We've made the file available in several formats, to
accomodate many media players.
- Explore, and become familiar
with, the structure, lyrics, and sentiments of the song.
- Write new lyrics that represent
your own river, or creek, or watershed.
- Email your lyrics to Rivers
of Life at rivers@hamline.edu
We'll send the lyrics to Larry,
and he'll choose his favorites. Winning lyrics will be performed by Larry
on the upcoming Audubon Ark river
trip, in October of 2000.
Become
part of river history! Get on the "Blue Highway."
