During the course, students will work in interdisciplinary teams to: 
 

Imagine carefully packing the most important resources related to your local watershed into a trunk, and  sending them around the world!  What would you want the world to know about your corner of the Earth?  What descriptive artifacts would you send?  The Rivers of Life Watershed Atlas Project takes you on a  journey of discovery through your watershed, and guides you as you tell the world about your home.  Once  you’ve completed your local Steamer Trunk, you’ll send the electronic portfolio to the staff at The Center  for Global Environmental Education, where it will become part of a cumulative Watershed Atlas,  posted online as a resource for your students, and students around the world. 

Open your Steamer Trunk, and you’ll find compartments for science, math, literature, history, art, and  social studies.  As your interdisciplinary team of teachers forms to create a discovery plan, you’ll decide  which compartments to fill.  The Watershed Atlas Project is flexible, and adaptive to your individual  curriculum needs and interests.  As you study and become familiar with your watershed, you and your  students will develop, and implement a plan to improve, cleanup, beautify or protect your local area.
