Watershed and Stormwater Education with a Twist
Since 2006, the Center for Global Environmental Education (CGEE) has designed and coordinated an exhibit in the Eco Experience building at the Minnesota State Fair. The area provides a place where kids of all ages can come to learn and play.
The exhibit focuses on things we do that cause nonpoint source water pollution, and actions we can take to prevent it....but in a really fun way. Some of the highlights include:
Signup for the Adopt-a-Drain program and receive a back pack and a yard sign (1,000 drains were adopted in 2024!)
Storm Drain Photo Booth - Pose with props in front of a storm drain, it's become an annual tradition for many fairgoers (we take over 3,000 photos each year!)
Storm Drain Goalie Air Hockey and Foosball tables - Challenge your friends to games with a twist
Interactive exhibits that talk about eutrophication and stormwater runoff
The Eco Experience building
The Eco Experience is a project of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), and it provides information and hands-on demonstrations of sustainable products and practices to Minnesota State Fair visitors.
CGEE is one of the roughly 35 major partners in the building.
Come visit us! The Eco Experience building is in the northeast quadrant of the fair, near the 4-H building. Look for the giant windmill blade out front.
